Rev. Jimmy Clyde Miller, 72, of Crossett, formerly of Jacksonville, Florida, passed on to his Heavenly home on Sunday, November 6, 2022. He was born in Crossett on September 29, 1950, to his parents Carl and Ouida Crouch Miller, was a 1969 graduate of Crossett High School, and a member of Meridian Baptist Church.
During high school, Jimmy began working at the local Safeway Grocery Store. This eventually led to becoming the produce manager at stores in Greenville, MS, Malvern, AR, Little Rock, AR, and Arkadelphia, AR.
In 1974, Jimmy began working as a carpenter until only two years later when God called him into his ministry full time. He accepted his first position at the Commission Road Baptist Church in Long Beach, MS in 1978. From 1980-1988, he was the Facility Director for the NOBTS (New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary) then went on to become the Maintenance/Facility Director for the First Baptist Church of Jacksonville from 1988-2017 along with serving as the Hilliard Retreat Center Director for fourteen years.
Jimmy loved the outdoors, whether it was fishing or cutting his own lumber at his very own sawmill, he felt comfortable in the midst of nature and could operate everything from a lawn mower to a backhoe. Clock making was also among his many talents. He was a master builder, making clocks from scratch, along with repairing and servicing antique clocks.
Jimmy was most certainly a people person, a man of integrity, who earned great respect from those who knew him through his ministry. Even in his director position, he continued to teach Sunday School Classes including both the men and singles ministry and supply sermons.
His love and commitment to God and family was never ending and was truly a picture of who he was.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by one sister, Susan Miller, and one grandson, Denton Dahl.
He leaves behind his wife of fifty-three years, Luanne Sturtevant Miller of Crossett; three children, Christine Ramey also of Crossett, and Renee Wallace (Mike) and Don Miller both of Jacksonville, FL; along with seven grandchildren, Rachel Wallace, Jonathan Wallace (Kelly), Joshua Wallace, Hannah Wallace, Seth Wallace, Noah Wallace, and Jacob Miller; three brothers, Billy Miller (Katherlene), Bobby Miller (Charlotte), and Freddy Miller (Nicki); one brother-in-law, Galen Jerry; and his best friend, Bruce Goyne along with ten nieces and nephews.
