Rhett M. Garrett, 79, of Ringgold, Louisiana, formerly of Crossett, passed away on Tuesday, June 29, 2021, at the Carpenter House Hospice Center in Shreveport. He was born on July 23, 1941, to his parents, Basil and Marie Estelle Garrett. He grew up in Crossett and was a 1959 graduate of Crossett High School.
Throughout his life, he worked many years as a Wood Product Salesman for Georgia Pacific and other companies. A career that not only allowed him to provide for his family but supported his outdoor passions, fishing and hunting. Rhett was an avid Razorback fan and a true outdoorsman regardless of the weather and easily recognized that a good day fishing was not always dependent on if the fish were biting, it was the memories created.
Rhett was a spiritual man with a big heart who loved his family immensely, especially his grandchildren and will be missed by all who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his parents and survived by his wife of fifty-six years, Sheila Graham Garrett; one son, Greg Garrett and wife, Heather, of Brandon, MS; one daughter, Laurie Chandler and husband, Steven, of Shreveport, LA; and one brother, Terry Garrett and wife, Nell, of Pollock, LA; along with seven grandchildren, Garrett, Ashley, John, Olivia, Phoebe, Lillie Grace, and Neely.
A Graveside Service will be held at 12:00 p.m., on Saturday, July 3, at Crossroads Cemetery with Dr. Clarence Cooper officiating. Pallbearers are Danny Smith, Eric Smith, Stephen Smith, John Chandler, Garrett Chandler, and Glenn McKinney.
Visitation will be from 10:30-11:30 a.m., at Medders Funeral Home, 1564 Hwy 52 W, in Crossett prior to the service.
