Richard Earl Head, 69, of Junction City, formerly of Crossett and Huttig, passed away on Wednesday, June 23, 2021, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on August 16, 1951, to his parents, Earl and Marion Binns Head. He was a 1969 graduate of Huttig High School and a member of Beech Street Baptist Church in Crossett.
Richard worked most of his life as a Field Service Technician and Engineer. He was a brilliant man who could quickly master anything put in his path. He loved to tinker and often enjoyed taking things apart only to rebuild them and understand how they work, and everything was done with precision. He was a talented carpenter, an inventor, and a fabulous cook, but most importantly, he was a husband who adored his wife, a father who loved his children, and a grandfather who spoiled his grandchildren. He was the best caregiver to anyone who needed him and the finest Santa Claus south of the North Pole.
Richard was a family man and a genius, who aspired to be nothing more than a Wal-Mart door greeter, but sadly never got the chance.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of forty-eight years, Judy Jeffress Head.
He leaves behind two sons, Chris Head and wife, Melissa, of Crossett and Jonathan Head of Junction City; one daughter, Lacey Farrar and husband, Brian, also of Junction City; two siblings, Dale Head and wife, Debbie, and Sheila Mathews and husband, Mike, all of Huttig; ten grandchildren, Aubree and Christian Head, Elizabeth Adams, Braedon, Maddy, and Bri Farrar, Justin Head, Brody Farrar, Julia Head, and Lily Farrar.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, June 26, at the Beech Street Baptist Church, 500 Beech St., Crossett with Pastor Donnie Dubose, officiating followed by a "Private Family" interment at Unity Cemetery under the direction of Medders Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Brennan Lee, Christian Head, Braedon Farrar, Brady Hutchison, Brandon Brumley, Michael Fife, DJ Bussell, and Chad Hines.
Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 p.m., Saturday at the church prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Beech Street Baptist Church Jeffress School of Music Scholarship Fund - 500 Beech Street, Crossett, AR 71635.
