Mr. Robert Ladell (Billy) Jasper was born on April 7,1960, in Monroe, Louisiana, to the late Billy Marie Cole. At the age of two weeks old he was adopted by the late Rev. Porter and Bernice Jasper. He departed this life on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, at his sister’s home in Crossett, Arkansas, surrounded by his family.
Robert was a 1978 graduate of Crossett High School. He furthered his education at Philander Smith University in Little Rock, Arkansas. On September 21,1979, he enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served his country until January 6,1984. He was also a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. Robert was a retiree of Graphic Packaging International in Monroe, Louisiana.
Robert accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at Pleasant Green Missionary Baptist under the leadership of his father, Rev. Porter Jasper. In 2005 he united with Piney Grove Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Eddie D. Montgomery.
He is preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Patricia Lindsey and Earnestine Riley and two brothers, Sammy Jasper and Terrence “Terry” Cole.
Billy, to all his family, was a loving father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. He was often seen in the neighborhood riding his side by side, visiting and sharing a laugh with his neighbors. He loved playing video games and could oftentimes be found sharing a joke or two with someone. Billy endured many challenges on this life’s journey, but he never lost his faith. He is now free from all pain.
Left to cherish his memories are: two daughters, Marquita (Yasir) Numan of Little Rock, Arkansas and Aisha Martin of Crossett, Arkansas; three granddaughters, Aminah Numan of Little Rock, Arkansas and Kierra and Kaliyah Martin of Crossett, Arkansas; five sisters, Sandra Birdner and Helen Brown of Crossett, Arkansas, Carolyn Fisher of Chesapeake, Virginia, Jacqueline Langdon of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, and Michelle Jasper of Atlanta, Georgia; seven brothers, Glendell (Mary) Moore, Raymond Canley, James Jasper, Bobby Jasper and Nathaniel (Gloria) Jasper of Crossett, Arkansas, Napolean (Brenda) Jasper of Upper Marlboro, Maryland and Richard (Diane) Jasper of St. Louis, Missouri; a special aunt, Dorothy Burwell of Lakeview Terrace, California; a special friend, Patricia Washington of Monroe, Louisiana; and a host of aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:00 pm, on Saturday, September 20, at Medders Funeral Home,1564 Hwy 52W, in Crossett, with Rev. Bianca Canley-Mays officiating., followed by interment at Westview Cemetery under direction of Medders Funeral Home of Crossett. Pallbearers are Ray Birdner, Undra Stanley, Napolean Brown, Patrick Fisher, Spencer Brown, Geryle Brown Jr., Chanor Jasper and Byron Jasper. Honorary pallbearers are the Class of 1978.
Visitation will be from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, September 19, also at the funeral home.
