Robert "Bobby" Burns Obituary

Robert “Bobby” Dale Burns, 78, of Crossett, passed away on Friday, February 27, 2026. He was born November 24, 1947, in Bellaire, Arkansas, to Henry David and Marie McCurdy Burns.

Bobby graduated from Lake Village High School and was a longtime member of North Crossett First Baptist Church. He honorably served his country in the United States Army, completing two tours in Vietnam.

He retired after twenty-eight years as a millwright at Georgia Pacific Plywood, where he was known as a dependable worker who believed in showing up, working hard, and doing things the right way. Bobby wasn’t one to sit still for long and was always willing to lend a hand wherever it was needed.

He enjoyed crappie fishing whenever he had the chance and spent many hours working in his vegetable garden, raising more than he needed so he could share with others. If a neighbor had something torn up or needed fixing, Bobby was usually the first one there, happy to help and never expecting anything in return.

Bobby was outgoing, friendly, and easy to talk to — the kind of person who could strike up a conversation just about anywhere. He loved his family deeply and was generous with both his time and his heart. Those who knew him will remember a good man who cared about people, loved the Lord, and lived a life marked by kindness and hard work.

He will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and all who were blessed to know him.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by two brothers, Franklin and Earl Burns.

He leaves behind his loving wife of forty-one years, Billie Jean Abbott Burns of Crossett; one son, Troy Posey (Lisa) of Crossett; and two daughters, Lisa Craig (Tony) of Milo, and Teresa Thornton (Keith) of Warren; along with three brothers, Benard, David, and Melvin Burns; three sisters, Carolyn Swan, Mary Cooley, and Martha Johnson; one very special nephew, Vernon Burns (Valery) of Bebee, AR; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, March 2nd, at Egypt Cemetery with Bro. Keith Rose, officiating.

Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 p.m., at Egypt Missionary Baptist Church, 563 Ashley Rd 95, in Hamburg, AR.
