Rodney Dale Wooten

Rodney Dale Wooten, 57, of Crossett, passed away on Thursday, May 30, 2024, at the Arkansas Heart Hospital in Little Rock.  He was born in El Dorado, AR, on March 10, 1967, to his parents, Dale and Bille Lewis Wooten.

Rodney graduated from Crossett High School in 1985 and was a proud member of the 1984 Crossett High School State Championship football team, a memory he cherished throughout his life.

For thirty-three years, Rodney worked as a machine operator at Hood Packaging, formerly Bemis Bag Co. He was known for his dedication, reliability, and strong work ethic.

Outside of work, Rodney enjoyed the simple things in life. He enjoyed tending to his yard and keeping his truck immaculate. Saturdays in the fall were reserved for watching college football, followed by NASCAR races on Sunday.

Rodney was a man of few words, but his dry wit left a lasting impression on those who knew him. One of his most endearing habits was calling his mom every day, a testament to his love and dedication to his family.

He is preceded in death by his father, Dale Wooten, and leaves behind his wife of fifteen years, Melissa Carter Wooten of Crossett; his mother, Billie Wooten of Greenbriar, AR; and his sister, Ramona Stephens also of Greenbriar; along with his two fur-babies, Trapper and Boscoe; a special friend, Ritche Walker; and a host of nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Monday, June 3rd, at Medders Funeral Home of Crossett, 1564 Hwy 52 W, with Bro. Robin Allen, officiating, followed by interment at Teel Cemetery in Strong, AR, under the direction of Medders Funeral Home. Pallbearers are Rodney Riles, Blake Riles, Melvin Goodwin, Jacob Stephens, Jordan Stephens, and Jonah Stephens.

Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m., on Sunday, at Medders Funeral Home.
