Neil "Joe" Young, a good ol' boy from Crossett by way of West Monroe, Louisiana, went on to his glory on September 26, 2024.
Neil had a gentle, masterful hand that few people ever saw when it came to creating beautiful art, furniture, or even the most mundane functional work-arounds for the problems that follow us, but he never held or poured himself into anything with as much care as he showed his family.
He is survived by his wife of fifty-two years, Melanie Young, and their children Rebecca, Jake, and Lucy.
Neil also leaves behind, for now, three granddaughters, Sarah, Aubrey, and Zoey Mixon, all of West Monroe, Louisiana, and a son-in-law, Randall Mixon, a Crossett native also of West Monroe.
He was a father, husband, son, brother, uncle, friend, coach, boss, and loads of other things to so many, but most importantly, he was a man you could count on. He did what he said he would do. He meant the things he said. He told the truth. He stood on, and unflinchingly built his family on values and traditions that the world, and our enemy Satan, would have us look down upon.
He held dear things that were important, and he was kind, charitable, and hard-working. He spent his life giving back to Crossett and the world at large in ways that weren't always visible or obvious, but unquestionably lasting and meaningful.
Roy Neil "Joe" Young left the world better than he found it.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that in Neil's memory, you make a donation to your local animal shelter.
