Shelia Elizabeth Jones, 78, of Crossett, passed away June 30, 2020, at her home. She was born April 3, 1942, in Little Rock, Arkansas, to her parents, John Phillip and Gladis Slaughter Daugherty. Shelia was a lifelong resident of Crossett, an employee at V&P grocery for 38 years, and a faithful member of the First United Pentecostal Church for 65 years.
She enjoyed tending to her flowers, reading, sewing, including making numerous welding caps, and browsing garage sales, which was impossible for her to pass up. She especially loved to cook. Her daily routine included making three delicious homecooked meals daily for her family, along with the thousands of biscuit sandwiches, pies, cakes, and banana puddings, etc. that she prepared for her V&P customer families.
Shelia was a kind, God-loving Christian lady who loved without question and could naturally see the good in everyone. Her door was always open to whoever needed a listening ear or something to eat. She not only raised her children and grandchildren to be giving to others but took them to church so they could also experience the love of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Richard Fay Jones, and her infant daughter, Shelia Faye Jones.
Shelia is survived by one daughter, Renee Gee (Jack E. Gee) of Hamburg; two sons, Phillip Jones (Melba) and David B. Jones, and daughter in-law, Pepper Jones all of of Crossett; two brothers, John Raymond Daugherty of Bastrop, LA and Jerry Daugherty of Crossett; one special sister-in-law, Yevon May; two special nieces, Vickie and Jerri Kaye; one special nephew, Dale Jr; seven grandchildren, Melissa Curry (Chad), Roxanne Branch (Mark), Kyle Cockerham (Maddye), Whitnie Sinks (Ross), Johnathon Daniel Jones, James Richard Jones, and Dessirae Jones; and seven great-grandchildren, Gage, Gatlyn, Kyla, Andi Gayle, Kole, Kylie, and Trae, with two more on the way; along with a host of other nieces, nephews, and friends.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, July 3, 2020, at the First United Pentecostal Church, 102 Etheridge Dr, Crossett, with Bro. Larry Hickman and Bro. Mark Branch, officiating, followed by interment at Crossroads Cemetery under the direction of Medders Funeral Home.
