Beyond her career and church life, Shirley found immense joy in cheering for the Arkansas Razorback football and basketball teams. She cherished these moments as they brought her together with loved ones, creating cherished memories that she held dear.

Above all, Shirley's greatest joy was her family. She found immense happiness in watching her grandchildren grow and thrive. Her unconditional love and support were unwavering, and her family was the cornerstone of her life.

She is preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Carol Lynn Spurlock; six siblings, Nina DeShazo, Maudine Little, Amelia Vance, Bill Smith, Jerry Smith, and Gene “Pug” Smith; one great-granddaughter, Felisha Smith; and one daughter-in-law, Lois Ann Murphy.
