Sonya Lee Meeks, 58, of Hamburg, passed away on Thursday, March 24, 2022. She was born on June 26, 1963, in Crossett, Arkansas, was a 1981 graduate of Hamburg High School, and a member of Gardner Baptist Church.
After high school, Sonya began a career at the courthouse where she was honored by being elected for three consecutive terms as the Ashley County Clerk. In 2003, she and her husband, Rickie, started a new chapter of their lives. They opened flatbedshipping.com, a 24/7 flatbed shipping service with a five-star rating, which they’ve operated together for the last nineteen years.
Sonya loved being outside working in her flower gardens or just hanging out with her family and her precious fur baby, Boomer. She was the loving wife and best friend, the supportive and caring mom, and the devoted caregiver to everyone, especially her family. She was a selfless, big hearted “daddy’s girl” who never spoke ill of anyone and who was always there for everyone.
She is preceded in death by her father, Jerry Lee Stanley.
She leaves behind her loving husband of thirty-two years, Rickie Meeks; two sons, Justin McDougald of Fountain Hill, and Brandon Meeks of Crossett; and her mother, MaryAnn Stafford Stanley of Hamburg; along with two sisters, Melissa “Micki” Stanley Myles also of Hamburg, and Stacey Jo Stanley Pool of Crossett; and one brother Mark Stanley of Milo.
