Stephen Dewayne Walley, 57, of Crossett, passed away on Thursday, September 19, 2024. Born on May 30, 1967, in Rockford, Illinois, he was the beloved son of J.C. and Barbara Ruth Smith Walley.
A lifelong resident of Crossett, Stephen was a proud 1986 graduate of Crossett High School and attended the South Main Baptist Church.
For many years, Stephen owned and operated Walley Plumbing, a testament to his hard work and dedication. He was not only known for his craftsmanship but also for his vibrant personality. An avid sports coach, Stephen enjoyed mentoring young athletes, and his outgoing nature made him a cherished figure in the community.
Stephen had a heart of gold and was always ready with a joke, especially “Dad” jokes-the one-liners that always brought laughter to those around him. He was also a passionate fan of Arkansas Razorback sports, and the Crossett Eagles, along with an unwavering love for 80s rock music. However, Stephen’s greatest joy came from spending time with his grandchildren, whom he was absolutely crazy about.
He is preceded in death by his parents, J.C. and Barbara Ruth Smith Walley; his stepmother, Evelyn “Jan” Walley, and one brother, James Curtis Walley.
He leaves behind his loving wife, Lori Coplin Walley of Crossett; two daughters, Kaitlyn White (Natalie) of Selmer, TN, and Destiny “RooRoo” Wallace (Blake) of Osceola, AR; one son, Cody Lane Walley (Anna Beth) of Crossett; two bonus sons, Trey Ebarb also of Crossett, and Jeremy Slaughter (Natasha) of Texas; along with four sisters, Diane Jennings of Lepanto, AR, Susan Taylor of Keiser, AR, Judy McKay (Kenny) of Lepanto, AR, and Gwendolyn Watkins (Bill) of Osceola, AR; one sister in-law, Lisha Walley of Crossett; four grandchildren, Emalyn Walley, Ryleigh Wallace, Layton Walley, and Eli Walley; and a host of nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, September 23rd at Medders Funeral Home, 1564 Hwy 52 W, in Crossett, with Bro. Brad Savage, officiating.
Visitation will be from 10:30-11:00 a.m., prior to the service.
