Sybil Jane (Williams) Rolen

Sybil Jane Rolen, 85, of Crossett, passed away on Monday, January 16, 2023, at the Nightingale of Crossett Nursing Home.  She was born on May 13, 1937, to her parents, Ivey and Louise Womble Williams and was a 1955 graduate of Crossett High School.

For several years, Sybil worked at department stores throughout Arkansas and Louisiana eventually serving as manager for numerous Cato stores.

Sybil loved the outdoors and enjoyed camping and fishing with her late husband along with horseback riding.  When it came to animals, Sybil’s heart overflowed with love and devotion, sharing life with numerous dogs over the years including her beloved, “Riley”, her western movie watching partner.

Sybil was headstrong, intelligent, and had a heart of gold.  She enjoyed and appreciated the important things in life, especially her family, and was affectionately called, “Big Syb” by her nieces and nephews whom she adored.

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Louis Rolen; one brother, Billy Joe Williams; and one sister, Margie Strebeck.

She leaves behind two sisters, Linda Young (Royce) of Crossett, and Katie Kitchens of Whitehouse, TX; and one step-son, Chuck Rolen (Linda) of Atlanta, GA; along with one brother-in-law, Charles Strebeck; a wonderful caregiver and friend, Nancy Gray; and a host of nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, January 19th, at Medders Funeral Home, 1564 Hwy 52 W, in Crossett, with Bro. Chris Sexton officiating, followed by interment at 3:00 p.m., at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Calhoun, LA under the direction of Medders Funeral Home.  Pallbearers are Zach Land, Curtis McDill, Steve Jordan, Mike Kitchens, Royce Young, and Jarred Pace.

Visitation will be from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. at Medders Funeral Home prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Crossett Canine Rescue in her honor.
