"Tate" Robert Brian Watt Obituary

Robert Brian “Tate” Watt, 49, of Crossett, passed away on Friday, March 5, 2021.  He was born in El Dorado, Arkansas, on January 15, 1972, to his parents, Billy Mack, and Billie Fran Jordan Watt.  He was a lifelong resident of Crossett and a 1990 graduate of Crossett High School.

For eight years, Tate worked for the Bemis Bag Company, but after earning his credentials at UAM, he became self-employed doing electrical and HVAC work.  Tate was a workaholic and managed to start and manage several businesses, including the Duct Doctor and Watt Farms.  The Watt Farms was well known for their tomatoes and strawberries and, in 2018, was recognized as Farm Family of the Year.

Even though Tate worked hard, he also played hard. He enjoyed deer, hog, and squirrel hunting in his free time and was a member of the Ashley County Bow Hunters Association and the PSE Bow Hunting Shooting Staff.  He also enjoyed camping, water skiing at the river, and was a fantastic cook.

Tate loved being around people and was easily the center of attention.  He was a comedian and an agitator, but also a giver with a big heart who loved his family immensely, including his dogs, Josie, Amos, Willie Nelson, and Newt.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Lindsey and Lucille Watt, and Bill and Jean Jordan and best friend Gary Riles.

He is survived by his fiancée, Dana Cross, his parents, Billy Mack, and Billie Fran Watt; two daughters, Jordan Lynzee Watt and BreAnn Sturdivant; and one son, Corby Sturdivant and wife, Caroline, all of Crossett; along with one granddaughter, Lydia Jane Sturdivant; and a host of other friends and relatives.

A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 10, at the Magnolia Baptist Church with Pastor Mike Griffith officiating, followed by interment at Crossroads Cemetery under the direction of Medders Funeral Home.  Pallbearers are Corby Sturdivant, Stephen Carter, Brad Martin, Malcolm Lee, Greg Blankenship, Lee Taylor, Brad White, and Cliff Gee.  Honorary pallbearers are John Kenly, Pepe Bolano, Edgar Bolano, Chuy Bolano, Wendel Steele, John Grady Richard, and Randy Townley.

Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 p.m. at the church prior to the service.
