Terry Martin Obituary

Terry Lane Martin, 60, of Crossett, passed away in Little Rock on Thursday, May 11, 2023.  He was born on April 29, 1963, to his parents, James Earl “Sonny” and Mary Charlene Barton Martin.  He was a lifelong resident of Ashley County, a 1982 graduate of Crossett High School, and a member of the First Assembly of God Church.

For twenty-five years, Terry and his wife, Valerie, have owned and operated Master Technicians & Mechanicals, LLC.  Terry was a master plumber and electrician, heavy equipment operator, licensed state contractor, and held numerous other certifications.

Terry and Valerie’s future was surprisingly foretold to them when they were only fifteen and sixteen years of age in 1980, their first day of school when Mr. Eddie Loggins, Sr., jumped up on his desk and declared the two would be wed one day.  Little did they know he would be correct.

Terry enjoyed collecting Coleman lanterns and old oil and gas signs, restoring things such as cars and old houses, and hunting deer and antiques.  He loved to spend days outside operating heavy equipment or just sitting relaxing at the Tall Timbers Hunting Camp he began so many years before appreciating God’s country.

Terry was an observant private person, hard to know but easy to love.  Giving you a nickname was a sure sign he liked you, and if he liked you, he loved you.  He was a quiet, gentle giant with a big heart who loved his family immensely.

He is preceded in death by his father, James Earl “Sonny” Martin, and his grandparents, Cephas Charles and Opal Maddie Barton and James Hayward and Dorothy Martin.

He leaves behind his wife of thirty-eight years, Valerie Williams Martin; and his mother, Mary Charlene Martin, both of Crossett; two brothers, Keith Martin (Sherri) of Crossett and Jamie Martin (Monica) of West Fork, AR; one sister, Kayla Sims-Salinas of Crossett; in-laws, Jimmy and Joyce DuBose of Crossett; sister-in-law, Elaina Minor (Kiim) also of Crossett; and brother-in-law, Schon Turner of Beekman, LA; along with special friends, Tony and Tonya Nolan and their children, Marlee and Caleb; best friend, James Ricks; and a host of nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, May 15th, at the First Assembly of God Church, 1500 Parkway Drive, Crossett, with Pastor Kenneth Neal officiating, followed by interment at the Martin Cemetery (Tall Timbers Hunting Club) in Strong, AR under the direction of Medders Funeral Home.  Pallbearers are the Master Tech crew, Dan Ridener, Floyd Herron, Hank Rice, Wayne Herron, Mike McKnight, Chris Jordan, Ross Sinks, Chris Robinson, John Jones, Justin Smith, Jimmy Nutter, Nick Hayes, Rich Bezick, Miki Goodwin, Tommie Ann Moffatt, Kerri Shelton, and Amber White.  Honorary pallbearers are James Ricks, Gary Booker, and Mark Lockling.

Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Saturday, May 13th, at Medders Funeral Home, 1564 Hwy 52 W, in Crossett.

The family will be receiving guests at 1001 Beech St. in Crossett.
