Thomas Donald “Don” Sullivan, 85, of Crossett, passed away on Wednesday, July 5, 2023, at the Ashley County Medical Center. He was born on August 9, 1937, lived most of his life in Ashley County, and was a member of Beech Street Baptist Church.
In 1955, he graduated from Fountain Hill High School as Valedictorian of his class. He later served honorably in the National Guard, and worked the next forty-four years for Georgia Pacific, where he eventually retired as a Millwright.
Beyond his professional career, Don was a skilled farrier and a member of the Cheminahaut Riding Club. He had a passion for horses and spent as much time as possible riding and caring for his animals. He also enjoyed fishing, skeet shooting, hunting, and gardening.
Don was outspoken at times, but would drop everything to help anyone in need, and could fix just about anything that could break.
He is preceded in death by his father, Jack Sullivan; his mother, Vona Sawyer; and one brother, James David Sullivan.
He leaves behind his wife of sixty-three years, Cynthia Hollis Sullivan, of Crossett; two daughters, Gibi Lynne Blue (Monte) of Bryant, AR, and Jill Mik’anna Pippen (Wayne) of Crossett; and one son, Brett Morgan Sullivan (Jamie) of Lake Charles, LA; along with brother-in-law, aka “little brother”, Mike Hollis (Pauline) of Crossett; four grandchildren, Dillon Thomas Blue (Ruth), Cody Michael Blue, Katilynn Kirkwood, and Kylee Kirkwood; and a host of nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, July 8th, at Medders Funeral Home, 1564 Hwy 52 W, in Crossett, with Bro.
