Vanessa Dale (Goodwin) Rodgers

Vanessa Dale Rodgers, 67, of Crossett, passed away on Friday, December 23, 2022, at her home.  She was born on November 18, 1955, to her parents, R. J. and Dorothy Roberts Goodwin, and was a lifelong resident of Crossett. 

Vanessa was a member of First Baptist Church, a 1974 graduate of Crossett High School, and earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from the University of Arkansas at Monticello.  For twenty-five years, she helped mold the young minds of third and fourth graders in both Hamburg and Crossett.

Vanessa’s passion was teaching, and she adored children, especially her grandchildren.  She had a loving and caring Christian heart which was evident in everything she did.

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister, Faye Kelley; one brother, Larry Goodwin; and one niece, Terri Withers.

She leaves behind her husband of forty-five years, Randy Rodgers of Crossett; two daughters, Brandi Dodson (Frank) of Crossett, and Shana Marquis (Tony) of Benton, LA; and one brother, Roddy Goodwin (Shirley) of Crossett; along with in-laws, Jimmie and Aundie Rodgers; five grandchildren, Ty Dodson, Kera Roberts, Lana Dodson, Madison Marquis, and Macy Marquis; a special caregiver, Danna Craig; and a host of nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 12:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 27th, at the First Baptist Church of Crossett, 701 Main St., with Pastors Jamie Staley and Bobby Pennington, officiating followed by interment at Crossroads Cemetery under the direction of Medders Funeral Home.  Pallbearers are Matt Goodwin, Jason Goodwin, Jeff Withers, Paul Rowe, Thomas Halley, David Dickerson, Dean Mangum, and Tony Adcock.  Honorary pallbearers are her Soul Sisters Sunday School Class, Jan Sellers, Martha Horne, Shirley Cummins, and Danna Craig.

Visitation will be from 10:30-12:00 p.m. at the church prior to the service.
