William Coleman Obituary

William Robert Coleman, 91, of Crossett, was promoted on Wednesday, December 15, 2021, to his heavenly home.  He was born in Hamburg, Arkansas, on May 23, 1930, to his parents, Buyck and Mary Ann Patrick Coleman, and was a lifelong resident of Ashley County.  In 1947, William graduated from Hamburg High School, followed by his honorable service in the United States Army.  After his military discharge, he soon began a career with the Arkansas Power & Light Company in Crossett.  He worked as the storeroom manager until he retired at the age of sixty-two.  William was a highly skilled electrician, and he, along with his good friend, Cosmo, wired many homes in the Ashley County area.

For many years, Pine Forest Missionary Baptist Church has been his church family.  He served proudly as the church treasurer for over fifty years, along with being a devoted deacon.

William loved listening to music and especially enjoyed trips to Mountain View, relaxing on the square with his beloved, Clara, and their many friends listening to local musicians.  He also enjoyed gardening, fishing, camping, and hunting and was a member of the McLeod Hunting Club for many years.

William was a good Christian man who believed no time should be wasted in a bad mood.  He valued every moment with his family, who he loved dearly, and lived his life serving his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of sixty-four years, Clara Frances Coleman; two brothers, Hugo and Pete Coleman; and one sister, Juanita Rinehart.

He leaves behind one daughter, Shelia Courson (Steve) of Crossett; one brother, James Coleman of Greensboro, NC; and two granddaughters, Jenny Lynn Strebeck of Crossett, and Hannah Gallucci (Anthony) of Maumelle, AR; along with four great-grandchildren, AnnaClaire and Blakely Strebeck, and Christian and Laiken Gallucci; a special niece, Mary Lane Steele; and other nieces, nephews, and friends.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, December 17, at the Pine Forest Missionary Baptist Church, 120 E. Church St. in Crossett, with Bro.  Roy Grantham officiating followed by interment at Crossroads Cemetery under the direction of Medders Funeral Home.  Pallbearers are Johnny Pierce, Danny Courson, John Lewis, Mark White, Ernie Thompson, Anthony Gallucci, Robby Freeman, and Danny Smith.  Honorary pallbearers are Robert Freeman, Gerald Tomerlin, John Herbert McLeod, and the men of Pine Forest Missionary Baptist Church.

Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m. at the church prior to the service.
