William "Bill" Dehart

William “Bill” Dehart, 79, of Crossett, passed away Tuesday, September 24, 2019, at his home.  He was born on September 28, 1939, in Perryville, Arkansas to his parents, William and Louise “Birtie” Stewart Dehart.  Bill and his three brothers spent their childhood in and around the Portland area working on the family farm.  After graduating high school, he met a sweet, shy beauty from Hamburg, Shirley Slaughter.  They were married and eventually moved to Crossett, where they raised their family.

Bill was a skilled carpenter who could build anything from china cabinets to houses and enjoyed everything outdoors, including fishing, hunting, landscaping, and gardening. He enjoyed cooking, playing his guitar, living life to its fullest and spending time with his friends, his animals, and especially his family.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 35 years, Shirley Dehart, and one brother, Jimmy Dehart.

He is survived by one son, Richard Dehart of Little Rock; one daughter, Teresa Chambers of Crossett; two brothers, Melvin Dehart and wife, Peggy, and Monte Dehart both of Pine Bluff; five grandchildren, Sean Morrison, Cody Dehart, Jacob Dehart, Justin Chambers, Kristen Chambers; and one great-granddaughter, Demi Dehart.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 6:00 p.m., Monday, September 30th at Medders Funeral Home Chapel, 1564 Hwy 52W in Crossett with Bro. Josh Luellen officiating. 

Visitation will be from 5:30-6:00 p.m. prior to the service.
