William Donald “Donnie” Day, 57, of Rockingham, Virginia, formerly of Crossett, passed away on Wednesday, October 6, 2021. He was born in Monroe, Louisiana, on January 23, 1964, and lived most of his life in Crossett.
In 1982, Donnie graduated from Crossett High School and, for several years, worked at the Georgia Pacific Chemical Plant in Crossett. However, his most recent employer was Sugar Right in Virginia, where he supervised and worked alongside his team with great pride and respect.
Donnie was all about having a good time. Wherever he went, he attracted people with his big smile, infectious personality, and sarcastic humor. He possessed an ability to talk to strangers and make them feel as if they were old friends.
Sports was most certainly one of the many passions in Donnie’s life. He loved coaching his children in baseball and softball, and if he wasn’t cheering on his New York Yankees, he was celebrating another victory with his favorite NFL player, Tom Brady, even after he left his favorite team, the Patriots.
Another of Donnie’s passions included working out in the gym. He was a certified personal trainer and an accomplished bodybuilder, competing in many bodybuilding competitions. He was dedicated and always strived to stay in tip-top shape while graciously sharing his knowledge with others.
Donnie was just a kind and generous man who would give you the shirt off his back. He lived life to the fullest, loved his friends and, most importantly, loved his children and family with all his heart and soul.
He is preceded in death by his parents, William L. Day and Janet R. Akin, and his first wife, Nemi Watt Day, mother of Jordan and Justine.
He leaves behind his wife, Tracy Lynn Day of Rockingham, VA; four children, Jordan Winn (Jonathan) and Justine Day (Bodhi), both of Crossett, and Baylee Day (Corey) and Reed Day, both of Conway; two step-children, Jessica Delgado and Afton Morris; his twin brother, Ronny Day (Amber) of Arkadelphia; two sisters, Teri Guess (Dana) of Oak Grove, LA, and Gina Akin of Halifax, PA; along with step-mother, Ann Day of Bastrop; step-father, Thelbirt Akin of Crossett; six grandchildren, Jaycee, Aubree, Addison, Grant, Maddox, and Brylee; and a host of other friends and relatives.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, October 16, at Medders Funeral Home, 1564 Hwy 52 W, in Crossett, with Bro. Clay Courson, officiating.
Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00p.m. prior to the service.
