William “Eugene” Miles, 73, of Crossett, passed away on Tuesday, March 31, 2026.
Eugene was born on November 20, 1952, and was a lifelong resident of Crossett. He was a faithful member of Pine Grove Baptist Church, where his love for the Lord was evident in the way he lived his life each day.
Eugene worked for many years at Jefferson Smurfit, where he built a reputation as a dependable and hardworking man. He took pride in honest work and the ability to provide for those he loved.
Outside of work, Eugene enjoyed the simple things in life—casting a line in the early mornings, spending time in the woods, deer hunting, and working in his vegetable garden. He took pride in what he grew and was always glad to share it with others. He had a good sense of humor too, always ready with a joke or something to make folks laugh, and he could brighten up a room without even trying.
More than anything, Eugene’s life was guided by his faith. He loved the Lord first, and that love showed how he cared for his family and treated his friends. His family meant the world to him, and he cherished every moment spent with them. He was steady, dependable, and kind-hearted—a man who valued what truly mattered.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hugo Dunlap Miles and Geneva Breeden Miles; his wife, Kathy Miles; and his brother, Leston Miles.
He leaves behind one son, Paul Blankenship of Crossett; one brother, Randal Miles of Maine; one grandson, Maverick Blankenship; and one great-grandson, Hayden Blankenship.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 7th, at Medders Funeral Home, 1564 Hwy 52 W, in Crossett with Pastor Doug Edwards, officiating, followed by interment at Hickory Grove Cemetery under the direction of Medders Funeral Home. Pallbearers are John Sturdivant, Blake Abney, Robert Sturdivant, Michael Woods, Jarrod Bowen & Cliff Gregory.
Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Monday, at the funeral home.
