William Panzie “Penny” Jenkins, 75, of Crossett, went to be with his Lord and Savior on January 18, 2025. He was born in Crossett, Arkansas, to his parents, Edward and Erline Sisson Jenkins, on March 17, 1949.
Penny was a 1967 graduate of Crossett High School, a member of First Baptist Church, and was married to the love of his life, Lynn, until her passing. He was a retired employee of Georgia Pacific Tissue Division in Crossett, where he gave forty-two years of dedicated service. Penny spent most of those years as a machine tender, but before retiring, he spent his last five years as a machine trainer, passing on his knowledge and skills to a new generation of papermakers.
When not working or spending time with his family, Penny had one beloved hobby: raising cattle. He enjoyed attending livestock auctions and, as he fondly called it, "a good cow sale." Penny was also a small businessman, owning Jenkins Apartments Inc. in North Crossett since 1985.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Lynn Jenkins.
Penny is survived by three sons, Nicholas “Nichol” Jenkins of Crossett; Derek Jenkins (Gena Zuroski) of Hamilton, Ontario, Canada; and Ryan Jenkins (Sarabeth) of Orlando, FL; two sisters, Edra Young (Mike) of Crossett and Irma Nell Jenkins of Little Rock; and eight grandchildren: Harriet, Alice, Penny, Sam, Ruby, Ashton, Abraham, and Evelynn.
A Celebration of Life Graveside Service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, January 21, at Pinewood Memorial Park, under the direction of Medders Funeral Home, with Bro. Chris Sexton, officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Knighton, Ronnie Howe, Eddie Cheatham, Bobby Richardson, James E. Outlaw, Jimmy Mack Sullivan, Jerry Morgan, Napolean Brown, and Johnny Brooks.
Visitation will be from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. at Medders Funeral Home, 1564 Hwy 52 W, Crossett prior to the service.
