Yvonne "Evelyn" (Wolf) McCormick

Yvonne “Evelyn” McCormick, 90, of Crossett, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 23, 2016, at the Ashley County Medical Center.  She was born on August 21, 1926, in Hamburg, AR to her parents, John Frank and Essie Noble Wolf.  Evelyn graduated with a Master’s Degree in 1949 from Louisiana State University and worked as a high school Librarian and substitute teacher.  On June 1, 1956, she married the love of her life, Marshall Scott McCormick I, and became an Air Force wife and stay at home mother to her children. She was a very loving mother and adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and even after overcoming adversities in her life, she never complained and always kept a smile on her face.  She enjoyed traveling, reading, working crossword puzzles and the fellowship from being a member of the birthday club of Hamburg.  She was a devoted lifetime member of First Baptist Church of Crossett and loved being a “Keen-ager”.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Marshall Scott McCormick I; one brother, John Frank Wolf, Jr.; grandson Patrick Johnson; and infant grandson, Brian Johnson.

She is survived by one son, Scott McCormick and wife Mary; and one daughter, Stacy Johnson and husband Gary all of Crossett; a brother, Louis A. Wolf and wife Nancy of Little Rock; two grandsons, Sean McCormick and wife Charlynn of Dumas and Wesley McCormick of Crossett; one granddaughter, Sydney Baker and husband Corey of Crossett; one granddaughter-in-law, Kallina Johnson of Crossett; three great-grandchildren, Nicholas McCormick, Jacey Johnson, and Ashlynn Kubiak; one sister-in-law, Darlene Wolf of Idabel, OK; and one brother-in-law, James Robert “Jim Bob” McCormick of Crossett.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 27th at First Baptist Church of Crossett, 701 Main St., with Pastor Jamie Staley officiating, followed by an interment at Pinewood Memorial Park under the direction of Medders Funeral Home of Crossett. Pallbearers are Leon Gifford, Matt Cantley, John C. Allen, Jim Knighton, Mike Gates, and Campbell Wilkerson.

Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday, December 26, 2016 at Medders Funeral Home.
