Medders Funeral Home’s Response to COVID-19

Our staff at Medders Funeral Home is dedicated to keeping our families and guests safe by promoting high standards of personal hygiene, limiting numbers - at individual events and through shared use of the same public spaces – and encouraging social distancing. This last item is more sensitive as there is a greater likelihood of hugging, crying and kissing at funeral homes than in other locations. We are also disinfecting our facility daily to protect all who enter.

As you consider how to approach planning a funeral during this global pandemic, don’t forget:

1. Anything that delays a funeral delays the natural mourning and healing process.

2. You can’t push “pause” on grief. People will continue to feel their grief but will have fewer options to express it and be supported.

With that being said, we are prepared to offer these services to our families:

1.Live streaming and/or recording your service. This is a service that we’ve made available some time ago, and we are grateful to have the ability to offer this at no additional cost to our families during this challenging time. It is important that you have an initial service (even though limited in scope and the number of participants who can attend) to acknowledge the significance of the death, remember the life, and get the needed support from your family and friends through technology.

2.A private service, graveside or chapel, with an additional Memorial Service after the current restrictions are lifted. This delayed “Celebration of Life” is an excellent way to honor the life of your loved one and activate your, much-needed, longer-term support systems.

Rest assured, Medders Funeral Home will be staying up to date on all CDC guidelines and recommendations during this difficult time and we will take all measures to protect you, your family, and our staff.

“Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the LORD your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you.” Deuteronomy 31:6
